Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications (M&C) Coordinator supports the Marketing & Communications department's overall work and assists the student recruitment & enrollment and family & community engagement departments. The Director sets the strategy; the Coordinator executes it. Together they share the day-to-day work of telling FLACS's story, growing our community, and supporting student recruitment across every channel. S/he is an organized storyteller who loves capturing real moments in schools and the surrounding communities and turning them into compelling content that reaches the greater South Bronx community. S/he also serves as a liaison between the school and network staff.

This is a 12-month position that is partially remote.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation, Photography & Storytelling
- Capture, source, and organize photos and video from school events, classrooms, and programs across all five campuses; coordinate with school leaders to surface high-interest, brand-aligned stories.
- Perform photo and video editing to produce social posts, reels, and short highlight pieces.
- Draft, design, and lay out marketing pieces that are consistent with the FLACS brand, including flyers, one-pagers, newsletters, social graphics, and recruitment collateral.
- Write clear, warm, strengths-based copy for a range of audiences, using brand-aligned vocabulary and plain language, primarily in English, Spanish, and other languages.
Social Media, Email & Family Communications
- Manage the day-to-day content calendar and posting across Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube; draft captions, build stories and reels, and monitor engagement.
- Execute email marketing campaigns and support initiatives to grow and segment the FLACS email list.
- Keep website content current in partnership with the Director, including events, news, and enrollment and community information.
Student Recruitment & Enrollment (SRE) Marketing
- Produce and deploy student recruitment marketing across print and digital channels, leading with the brand signature and the standard apply call-to-action.
- Support the enrollment funnel from awareness to application to registration, in partnership with the network and school SRE teams.
- Build, schedule, and translate post-lottery and student enrollment messaging using FLACS's bilingual email and text templates.
- Help coordinate and promote recruitment events, open houses, and community moments.
Brand Stewardship, Data & Operations
- Apply and maintain the FLACS Branding Guidelines consistently, including logo usage, color palette, and typography, across every piece produced.
- Track basic performance metrics (reach, engagement, follower and list growth) and share simple summaries to inform future content.
- Maintain organized files in the centralized asset library, including photography, templates, and approved snippets, and manage print and promotional inventory.
- Provide cross-departmental support to Development, Family & Community Engagement, and Student Recruitment & Enrollment, and assist with other projects as directed.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, social media, or content creation.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with proven ability to adapt tone for families, staff, and prospective candidates.
- Hands-on experience creating content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, including stories and reels.
- Comfort capturing photos and short videos, with basic editing skills and an eye for authentic, candid, dignified moments.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple deadlines and a recurring content calendar.
- Clearance for fingerprint and criminal background check.
Preferred
- Working knowledge of the FLACS tool stack: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, ParentSquare, Schoolmint, Meta, Google Workspace, Eventbrite, and Claude.
- Basic experience with website content management and reading simple analytics.
- Experience in K-12 education, charter schools, or community-serving nonprofits.
- Connection to or familiarity with the South Bronx community.
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
